Drawbacks...

I know I said I'd get to work on my art, but school came back with a bang, sending projects this way and tests the other, I'm afraid I've gotten pressed for time. I've only been able to do two works in my spare time, despite the ideas that have been festering in my head for awhile. I'll try to upload/touch them up when I get the time.

I'll need to consult on some help again with the originally wolf-but-later-turned-into-fox picture, although it pretty much is finished. I had to use some refrences to do the legs, but I'll go more into that when I upload.

Umm... new avatar coming soon most likely... and its a bit of a bummer that some of the people I watch have moved to sA due to that one dA rule about using any submitted work without artist's consent. I'm not really worried about that for now, as I doubt out of all the talented artists out there they'd really come down to pick up my art.

Guess thats all for now.

Oh! If you haven't already go check out . She's been a great help to me and you should see her work first hand.

Sorry if you didn't want to be pointed at Yian, but I had to do it ;p!

Ehe...well, thanks! =) They have a rule like that? *shock*. You mentioned in class today, I think...but...anyway, you're right, I doubt I'd be a good enough artist that dA would actually want to use my work anyway. dA mostly uses it for advertising, though, right? What else could they possibly use it for? Design of their site? I mean, they can't get 100% profit off a work...

And what if the work is already copyrighted through the U.S. Copyright Office and then that person posts it at dA? I read there that only copyright holders can use the art, and dA can't kill someone's copyright just like that....*confused* XD
:iconkaturai:
Sorry for the late response. x[

Yeah... apparently they do. I haven't read them myself, but I'll be sure to notice it once I feel violated by it. Which right now... I don't. XD

I'm pretty sure they can't go selling and displaying your work randomly around the world... I'm guessing its just for advertising, but even then it's probably hard for them to jump on your art.

Copyrights??? Hm... I guess, but most people who get copyrighted stuff don't use dA? Or I just haven't been looking in the right spots. I'm not so sure on that part.

Hum...well, I've seen several people with copyrighted stuff use dA. One of them drew some pictures for a magazine (I think the person's name was "kenkat" or something like that) and mentioned it in his/her comments for the picture. Besides, dA is a full-fledged company...they should be obeying copyright laws. :P

There were many people offended by dA's copyright notice though..so shouldn't dA be thinking about changing it? (Especially if the offended members happen to be the subscribers...=) )

Advertising..huh. It could possibly be, but I don't see many dA ads at all. Not in real life nor on the Internet. Besides...the community is already big enough that they should be more interested in advertising to get the non subscribers to subscribe rather than getting more members...Of which I really don't see how that borders on using people's artwork...XD
:iconkaturai:
Yeah... its all very odd. And you're right, I've never seen any dA advertisements outside of dA it's self. The community certainly is big enough, compare it to sA with about 500 memebers on at a given time, where here, its... wow. x3!

Maybe its got something to do with the hotshots on DA. Maybe the Daily Deviation is an example? Its not really taking artwork, but its putting it up on the front page. Not really violating anything, but I guess many artists are just uneasy about that one rule. One again, I have no idea :X

Hmmm....the daily deviation thing. Couldn't you always ask to be taken off that? Or does dA's rules prevent an artist from being taken off of it? It is kind of confusing..but I always thought that the Daily Deviation thing was more of an advertisement for the artist than for dA itself...It just goes on dA, after all, and people on dA can't really be advertised to. ><

And sometimes I really do wonder if there's even that many subscribers so that dA can maintain it's income. =)
